K. L. E. Society's Hospital & Medical Research Centre, Belgaum had established various Super specialities such as cardiothoracic surgery, Cardiology, Neurology, Neuro-Surgery, Urology, Nephrology, Paediatric Surgery, Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Another important field which required attention was Infertility. There are no good Centres with State-of-the Art facilities in North Karnataka, South Maharashtra and Goa. This had led to inconvenience to the couples who had to travel far and wide to get infertility treatment. Therefore, it was another long cherished desire to establish the ‘Assisted Reproduction Centre’ at K. L. E. Society's Hospital & Medical Research Centre, Belgaum, This was only possible because of our dynamic Chairman Dr. Prabhakar Kore , Chancellor, KLE University, Belgaum, and the visionary leadership of Dr B R Desai, Professor & Head Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, J N Medical College. It was proud moment in the annals of KLES Hospital & MRC when the Assisted Reproduction Centre was inaugurated on 22nd April 2000, by then Hon. Minister for Health & Family Welfare Dr. A. B. Malakareddy in the august presence of her Excellency Ramadevi, then Governor of Karnataka.

ARC is a super specialty centre, which caters to all the needs of infertile couple at affordable prices in a comfortable, relaxed and friendly atmosphere.It provides the entire range of ART procedures including Intrauterine insemination, IVF, ICSI, embryo freezing, egg donation, sperm donation, embryo donation and blastocyst transfer in par with international standards. ARC houses a team of experienced doctors who are dedicated to the cause of helping infertility patients. The Centre assures impeccable diagnosis which is the key in providing proper treatment and care.

The Embryology laboratory is the heart of any fertility clinic. ARC is well equipped with a wide range of the latest diagnostic & therapeutic equipment and state of the art facility with class 100000 Embryology laboratory. Newly renovated in 2005, the facility contains equipment for embryo culture, cryopreservation and micromanipulation. It creates a unique environment for good clinical care and development of a cutting edge technology to improve clinical outcomes. The laboratory has three incubators, four microscope stations, two laminar flow hoods for gamete handling, one micromanipulation station for ICSI. The culture environment of the embryo is carefully regulated through a specially designed air system. Imaging equipment is distributed throughout the laboratory to facilitate teaching and sharing of information with patients and doctors.

At ARC a team of expert gynaecologists and embryologists are performing IVF & ICSI very successfully since the past 9 years, in the process helping many patients to have IVF & ICSI babies. Besides, they have to their credit countless pregnancies through simpler methods such as intrauterine insemination. The current IVF success rate is at 40% and maintaining its consistency since inception.

ARC provides monthly regular consultation services in Hubli & Panjim, Goa and has conducted several free infertility camps & workshops in and around Belgaum.
