The year 1963 is
another land mark in the history of K.L.E. Society since the College at
Haven, Bangalore and the J. N. Medical College at Belgaum were started.
The Society feels proud of that year as an epoch, as a phenomenal
development took place subsequently. The J. N. Medical College occupies
a unique position among the Society's institutions. It is the crowning
glory of the
Society's educational ventures and achievements, in fact, the J. N.
Medical College stands out as a symbol of secular image of the Society
as its students and staff come from all over India and abroad.
With higher aims
and a broader vision, the K.L.E. Society kept on broadening its scope by
extending its institutions to the various branches of knowledge.
Therefore, the institutions from Kindergarten to Post Graduate Education
found their place in the educational map of the K.L.E. Society. The map
was further enlarged with the additions of Pharmacy, Law, Teacher
Training Institutions and a few more Professional Colleges.
The year 1984 is
a turning point in the history of K.L.E. Society. Shri. Prabhakar Kore
took over the captaincy of the administration of the Society. With his
dynamism, he gave a new vision and multiple dimension to the out look of
the K.L.E. Society. Our Chairman, young and energetic as he is,
broadened the base of the K.L.E. Society by adopting the institutions of
the other managements into the fold of our management. Besides, starting
the Dental, Education, Nursing, Information Technology, Computer
Applications, Hotel Management, Business Management, Tourism, Fashion
Designing, Agriculture Colleges and Polytechnics, the Society pursued
the policy of "take over and merge". Therefore, the Society spreads its
base from neighbouring Maharashtra to the far-off Malur, at the border
of Tamilnadu. With Ankola, Gangavati and many more places in between.
The K.L.E.
Society's Hospital and Medical Research Centre is Shri. Prabhakar Kore's
brain-child. The monumental 1000 bed K.L.E. Society's Hospital and
Medical Research Centre built at a cost of more than 100 Crores is the
true embodiment of the K.L.E. Society's glorious achievement. This has
taken health care to the door-steps of the poor and needy people. Many
agree that our hospital with its ultra modern infrastructure has an edge
over other modern hospitals in India. Of Late, the Society has planned
to reach new heights and see new horizons as it has entered into
collaboration with the Illinois University, Chicago and the Sunderland
University, U.K., as part of exchange programme in the field of Medical
and Pharmaceutical Education.
The K.L.E. Society has, all along, received the co-operation and support
from the people, cutting across all barriers of caste, creed and
religion. The Society's leadership has ensured, its democratic
functioning effectively by conducting the election of the President,
Vice-Presidents and the Members of the Board of Management regularly.
Thus, the true spirit of democracy is working here. The financial
transactions are maintained scientifically and are audited scrupulously
by the panel of experts.
The total assets
of the Society as on today may cross over Five billions with an annual
turn over of over one billion. It has employed 6,000 personnel,
benefiting more than 60,000 students on its roll studying various
courses. A span of 86 years, since the inception of the K. L. E. Society,
looks fairly a long period of time, but to establish and run 114
institutions which the Society has done, it is a short time indeed. It
is more so when one knows that the K. L. E. Society rests solidly on the
four-fold ideals of "Truth, Love, Service and Sacrifice ".
Nevertheless, we
are not complacent, and we shall never be, for we always desire to reach
higher goals and make newer achievements. We have thus, planned for the
Deemed University status to the K. L. E. Society. A School will be opened
in New Delhi, God willing, and we hope to fare even better than what we
have. Our vision is for a glorious future, for an all-round development
of the people blessed with knowledge, health and happiness. |
