INSTRUCTION FOR COLLECTION OF SAMPLES:-
  • Do not draw blood from I.V line, just below or above the I.V line.
     
  • Draw correct volume of sample into the vaccutainer.
     
  • For hormone estimations fasting morning sample is always preferable.
     
  • Routine chemistry investigations will be reported in 2 hrs after receiving samples.
     
  • Special investigations will be reported in 4 hrs after receiving samples.

  • For remaining investigation plain serum sample is preferred.
     
  • For 24 hrs Urinary V.M.A Collection.
     
  • Three days prior to collection patient should abstain from banana, Vanilla, chocolates, coffee and tea.  Like wise drugs like nitrofurantion genetisic homogenetisic acid (Antirheumatic drugs) can interfere with the test.
     
  • Prior to collection it is necessary to add the preservative in the container. Get it from the dept of Clinical biochemistry.
     
  • For 5 HIAA test preservative from Department of Biochemistry is to be added. Patient should abstain from Banana drugs like Aspirin, Phenacetine, acetalanilide mephenesine, chloromazine for three days prior to collection.
