Laboratory
diagnostics is the cornerstone in the patient care & management, so rightly
called as the backbone of a Hospital. A prompt and quality laboratory report
will help the clinician in the proper patient management.
The KLES Hospital
Laboratory, which runs 24 hours a day throughout the year.
The
Laboratory has following areas of service.

1.
Central Patient Sample Collection Area.
The Central Patient
Sample Collection is situated in the ground floor of the out patient wing.
All the out patients report to area for submission of blood, urine and fluid
samples irrespective of the nature of the test. The place comprises of
billing counter, blood collection room and a spacious waiting area. This is
the first Hospital in this region, which started using the vacuumised
syringes (VACUTAINER) for the blood collection.
2. Hematology and
Clinical Pathology
The Hematology division
is equipped with the totally automated blood cell counter with five part
differential (Backman Coulter HMX) with automated recticulocyte count.
Anemia, Leukemia and Coagulation workup, bone marrow study, urine and body
fluid analysis are done with stringent quality control. More than 1.5 lakh
tests are done in Hematology per year.
3. Cytopathology and Histopathology
Cytopathology and
Histopathology divisions are equipped with the state of the art equipments
for tissue processing and cytological studies. Pap smear, FNACs, CT and
Ultrasound guided FNACs of deep-seated organs are routinely done. More than
2000 biopsy and cytology samples are studied per year.
4. Biochemistry.
Biochemistry division is
equipped with state of the art biochemistry analysers. More than 100
different parameters are being analysed and the laboratory is performing
more than 18,000 tests per month.
5. Microbiology.
Clinical Microbiology
division is equipped with fluorescent microscope, Electrophoresis, anaerobic
culture and QBC for malarial parasite. More than 8000 samples are studied
for routine bacterial culture and sensitivity. More than 5000 samples are
investigated for HIV, HCV and HbsAg.
