Cardiovascular Surgery

This is one of the latest specialties to embellish this developing hospital. The Hospital has in fact performed over 6100 closed and open heart surgeries so far. The Hospital's Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery Unit now routinely undertakes all closed and open heart surgeries, embolectomies, reconstructions correction of congenital anomalies, valve repair and replacement, by-pass, etc. The success rate of this department is at par and even better than best of centers in the country and abroad. Coupled with this is a very economical package of charges that is among the lowest in the country, due to which patients from as far off as U.P. and Bihar are now finding relief here. The crack surgical team is aided by a well equipped modern O.T. with a state-of-the-art latest generation Strockert. Heart - Lung machine, Haemothermia, ACT and Intra- aortic balloon pump aid the crack surgical team. Facilities for blood gas analysis, electrolytes and Hb estimation equipment are integral to the Cardiac Operation Theatre. Now our Cardio-Vascular and Thoracic Surgery Unit is strengthened by very senior and experienced consultant Dr. M. D. Dixit. He is supported by very experienced consultants Dr. Shivappa Annurshetru, Dr. Anuradha Dubey, Dr. Mohan Ghaii and Mr. A. V. EIdos, Perfusionist, a well trained Anaesthetists team is headed by Dr. Dhulked Department of Anaesthesiology, J. N. Medical College.

The success of the departments of Cardiology and Cardio-Vascular and Thoracic Surgery is also, to a considerable extent due to the specialty trained (at Biria Heart Centre, Calcutta and the Madras Medical Mission) nursing staff who man the medical and surgical intensive coronary care units, both of which are equipped with advanced monitoring systems, ventilators and other life-saving devices. Society's Hospital has been recognized by the Government of Goa for Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery procedures under their Mediclaim Scheme in addition to industrial units like SESA Goa, MPT, INDAL, West-Coast Paper Mills, etc.
