Rhinoplasty Overview and Patients Perspective
Rhinoplasty or otherwise popularly known as ‘Nose Job’ or “Nose Reshaping” is a surgery that changes the shape of the nose and enhances facial harmony and the proportions of your nose. The reason for rhinoplasty may be to change the appearance of the nose, improve breathing or both. Thus it is not exclusively a cosmetic procedure. The surgery also aims to maintain nasal function or improve it, if the patient has reduced airflow due to an obstructive process. This adds to the complexity of the operation as internal nasal structures have to be modified in order to correct functional issues.

Who invented rhinoplasty in India?
Even today, Rhinoplasty described by Shushruta in 600 BC is referred to as the Indian flap and he is known as the originator of plastic surgery. And though it was more described and practiced in western and European countries, since a decade the Indian surgeons are doing a commendable job in this field.
What are the limitations of Rhinoplasty
The biggest limitation with rhinoplasty is thick skin, as this is difficult to shrink and conform to the underlying framework of the nasal structure. A surgeon can only do so much with a large nose if the skin will not contract.
