Prosthetics and orthotics department is located in G-1 in KLE Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital and MRC. It is a specialized healthcare department that combines a unique blend of clinical and technological skills to assist people with physical impairments or functional limitations, to improve their functioning and increase their potential to live healthy, productive, independent, dignified lives. With the aim to provide comprehensive care with preventive, promotive, assistive and rehabilitative interventions the department was started in August 1997.
The orthotic intervention treats a range from plagiocephaly (flat head) to diabetic neuropathic foot whereas prosthetics (artificial limbs/body parts) aids the amputees from fingers of hand to toes of foot.

The patients are treated with prosthesis and Orthosis of conventional design as well as imported high technology systems. Outpatient as well as inpatient service facilities are provided with reasonable charges.
Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics (Dept. of P&O) is constituted by two functional units; one is Academic unit which runs a bachelor program in prosthetics and orthotics i.e. BPO degree and the clinical unit serves the patients.
