Department of nephrology started in 1993 under supervision of physician Dr. Kalaghate with 1 hemodialysis machine. Dr. Mallikarjun Karishetti ( khanpet) joined the department in 2005 and later Dr. Ritesh Vernekar and Dr. Ravi Sarvi joined and established the department. Started BSc dialysis technician course in 2020 with yearly intake of 10 and DM nephrology course in 2021with 3 students per year.
Department has 40 hemodialysis machines, 2 SLED machines, dedicated post renal transplant ICU.
Provision for treatment of critical patients, point of care dialysis at most critical areas.
Department caters services in following areas. Critical care areas like medical ICU, post surgical, cardiology, cardiothoracic, obstetric and gynaecology, neurology.
Acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, maintenance hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis for acute and for maintenance.
Active Transplant programme, living related as well cadaveric is going on.
Department has close working relationship with urology, pediatric nephrology, nuclear medicine , microbiology and radiology
Department has established, schedule of teaching with in house faculty as well from overseas ( Australia) and other nephrology colleague( MPUH Nadiad).
Department pursuing active research in nephrology with multiple publications.
